HARRISBURG – Rep. Lori Mizgorski (R-Allegheny) today announced $945,000 in Gaming Economic Development and Tourism Fund (GEDTF) grants have been awarded in the 30th Legislative District.
“Each of these projects represents an important investment in the health and safety of our schools and communities,” Mizgorski said. “I commend our local officials for their efforts to maintain our buildings and enhance recreational opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.”
The grants were awarded as follows:
• Hampton Township School District – $400,000 for partial replacement of the roof on the high school. The portion of the roof above the original building was installed in 1969 and is past its end-of-life.
• Fox Chapel – $100,000 toward construction of a 12,000-square-foot public works garage, which includes vehicle and equipment storage, office space, restrooms, conference space and break rooms.
• Shaler Township – $195,000 for stream and trail restoration at Fawcett Fields. The project would include renovation of a natural trail and bridges to improve access and alleviate flooding. Improvements would also allow ADA access to soccer fields from the roadway and improve ADA access to the stream and fishing locations.
• Pine-Richland School District – $250,000 for installation of multi-sport synthetic turf on a regulation-sized play area and field lighting.
The GEDTF program provides funding for single-year and multi-year projects that promote development in Allegheny County, including economic, infrastructure and community improvements, job training, public safety, and public interest. The grants were given final approval today at a meeting of the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
