– Rep. Lori Mizgorski (R-Allegheny) announced today that she will be hosting a free, drive-through electronics recycling collection event.
The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 9 a.m. to noon at Kiwanis Park, 201 Wetzel Road, in Glenshaw. Residents should use the Jeffery Primary School entrance.
“This collection event will be a great opportunity for residents to dispose of their electronics, such as TVs, computers, laptops, cameras, stereo equipment and more,” said Mizgorski. “The event will be set up with proper health and safety protocols in place.”
Residents are asked to place electronics they wish to recycle in their trunk before arriving and to remain in their vehicle.
Items suitable for collection include TVs (limit one TV per car
), VCRs, DVD players, microwaves, computers, laptops, tablets, computer monitors, printers, scanners, hard drives, computer keyboards/mice, answering machines, phones, cell phones, digital/video cameras, stereo equipment, MP3/CD players, radios and calculators.
Items not suitable for collection include appliances with freon, loose batteries, smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, and biohazard electronics such as vacuum cleaners, carpet/floor scrubbers, hair dryers, curling/flat irons, massage/whirlpool electronics, razors/clippers or electric blankets.
The vendor will maintain the right to refuse any items unacceptable for recycling. Customers will need to take unacceptable items with them upon leaving the event.
